Andree Weschler's The Prayer for Unfaithful Women (a movement piece about French women punished after the war for sleeping with Germans).
"It was right after the war in a small village lost in France. In the main square they aligned all the women who had had an intimate relationship with men from the enemies and in front of everybody they shaved their hair, erasing their jewel of beauty. Some of them were crying, some of them were standing without showing any emotions."
